The sever setup for cloud computing means that within a single data centre there are multiple virtual computers which have been created using software within one PC and then spread across several machines as a cluster. For the user who is using this service it seems like there is a single server hosting there request.

The benefits of this is that the virtualisation allows for recovery from a failure of any kind to be handled as part of the computing infrastructure.

Services delivered over the internet are delivered using internet technologies – you don’t buy the ‘cloud’ as a single platform – you buy the application that will sit on it.

Cloud computing has become the latest new craze in the computing world with Computing giants such as Microsoft being at the leading edge of development. Most of us would have seen reference to this on the TV in adverts but not really know what it entails or involves. In fact the term Cloud means that services are available across the network without the user knowing the location. In fact the user does’nt need to know this – in most cases theres no need to know what data centre or server is being use to host your work. the other thing about cloud computing is that the location is subject to change.

As a rule of practice for health and safety reasons companies and even individuals must take into consideration Display Screen Equipment safety for the end user. This is more so as in today’s environment computers and laptops are as a common equipment found in homes as is TV’s and DVD’s and are used on a daily basis.

By regulation if you only use the computer to check your next job for example if you’re a Engineer then by definition you are not a DSE user. However a computer centre operator would be as they use the PC through the day. The risk associated depends on the intensity of use, physical abilities, and personal requirements.

Many companies are now deploying what’s known as VDC’s – otherwise known as Virtual Data Centres. The benefits of this is that they are designed to provide virtualisation across all platforms regardless of server, storage and network requirements. The different levels are known as Wraps which are then customised as per customer needs and requirements. These data centres are great for users of computers across the country and meet all the computing needs depending on the size of the data centre and it’s capacity. For the user who logs onto the system via there local computer they have no need to know what data centre they are accessing or which location is housing the system.

Every individual using computers should be aware of the basic protection methods to protect there computer against viruses. Companies of every size will have some kind of team dedicated to protect there computing assets such as PC’s, servers and all networks against the possibility of attack via a virus or malicious attempt to destroy and corrupt the data. This is generally known as Malware – commonly known as Viruses, Trojans and Worms. Individuals and companies also need to be cautious that they do not pass on the virus through emails or network to other companies, other individuals outside the company or to third parties, this is usually achieved via a Anti virus software such as AVG or Norton AV, both are very good at removing specific viruses via a virus database, however some viruses will require the full paid version to be activated to fully remove.
